We have just finished show casing our new collection at the Colombo Fashion week 2013. ‘Kurunegala Rive-Gauche’. Super Model Perin Fernando wore our final showstopper piece which was 100% hand made with ‘Cheetha’ recycled cut of pieces. This dress took 2 1/2 weeks to finish. It was just made for her, perfectly fitted and showed the real valuve of the dress. She was the best person to carry it and we are so proud to present a dress made with Sri Lankan traditional ‘Cheetha’ textile on a Sri Lankan super model. Thank you so much Perin!

We finally met with Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and had time to talk in Colombo. We missed her in Madrid and we met her in the street of Lyon at the Fête des lumières. It was so nice to keep bumping in to her and finally to talk! super great!

We met the designer/founder Nish from ‘SuitSupply’, USA at the workshop organized by British Council during the CFW 2013. we liked his spirit and enargy! it was great to discover Nish!

Colombo Fashion Week 2012 was an interesting experiance. Participating 1st time with many other Sri Lankan fashion designers, Learning and finding the difference of DENETH brand among wider audiance and wide range of designers. It encouraged me to work harder. On the 3rd day at the CFW I won the award ‘Generation Next’ after competing with six other designers. I had no clue that we have been judged. It was a surprice and full of happiness to receive the award from Agatha Ruiz de la Prada from Spain.

This collection was inspired by Beatles Song and My mom’s 20’s times. I found the perfect colors ‘cheetha’ and perfect models, Anithra and Ravi, to do the shoot. big thanks goes to my dear CoCA friends Suda Sanmugaraja and Lekha Edirisinger for the amazing photographs! the collection is available at ‘Melache’ – Duplication Road, Colombo 04, Sri Lanka.

The Permanent Delegation of Sri Lanka to UNESCO invited DENETH brand to exhibit and organized a fashion show of 2013 collection ‘kurunegala rive-gauche’ at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.
The chief guests at the event was, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Sri Lanka to UNESCO, Professor Karunaratne Hangawatte, Assistant Director General for Culture at UNESO Mr.Franceso Bandarin, Mr. Jean-Yves Langlais Director General of Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and Mme. Isabelle Quehe, President of the Association of Universal Love and Founder of the Salon Ethical Fashion Show in Paris.
The attendents at the event was delegates from the UNESCO, Ambassadors, member of France 3 Tv Channel and blog writers.

HaPpY mArKeT – Madrid was great and we got Agueda Alvargonzález, communication of ‘Agatha Ruiz de la Prada’ attending at the event as a especial guest. The next day I was invited to visit the head office and the workshop of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada in Madrid, Spain. This was a great highlight and I was thrilled and honored for this oppertunity. It was amazing to see so much beautiful people with open heart welcomed me and show me where everthing happens. it was located in a beautiful old building. when I entered it was like entering on to the rainbow. full of colors, each different colors on the walls, floor and the roof! everyone had a smile on their face at work! super! great enargy and full power enviornment. I gifted her banyan bangles and pair of ‘milky way’ earing from our collection. This autumn in DENETH participated 1st public pop-up store in Paris 10 with the ‘Lieu37’. looking forward for the summer now.

DENETH collection was also showed in ‘Chairurbaine’ festival in Chelle, Paris on 9th December 2012.

Presented 1st Autumn/Winter Accessories Collection of DENETH – ‘Sunshine in winter’, 100% hand stitched and crochet knitting technique. This is a collaboration with a textile designer Luciole Jaeghers. Tuesday 27th November 2012 at 19:30 – 20:00 in Cité Internationale des Arts – Paris.

Collaboration with musicians from Germany, Switzerland, Romania and Spain at Cité Internationale des Arts – Paris. I did costume design for the band ‘Contemporary Folk’ October 2012.

I was invited to show our brand  through the ‘Universal Love’ brand Boutique stall at the ‘Ethical Fashion Show 2012’ Paris this September. It was again a great experience and sharing of knowledge and information. Ethical Fashion Show Paris Rocks!!

Currently reside in the ‘Cité Internationale der Arts’ Paris for 3 month arts residency program where I have been selected and invited by the Institut Française. In the process of creating new collection in Paris and DENETH 1st Autumn-Winter collection which will be a collaboration with 2 french artist. It’s great experiences to share, to show and to collaborate with many fields of artist from France as well as other nationalities from around the world in one city.
